Materials Department Intern

HOTSTART, a world leader in the design and manufacture of heating systems that improve engine and equipment reliability, has an opening for an internship in the Materials department. The Materials department is responsible for the flow of materials into and through the facility in order to meet customer requirements and within Production capacity.  This includes Purchasing, Production Planning and Receiving/Material Movement. The ideal candidate will have an interest and a background in one or both these areas.

  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to make sensible decisions, including when to escalate an issue to a supervisor
  • Detail oriented
  • Work proactively with other team members
  • A current enrollment in Supply Chain curriculum is desired

Projects/Learning Outcomes:

The intern should develop a working knowledge of Purchasing, Planning and Materials functions in a Manufacturing environment.   The responsibilities may be a mix of regular, consistent processing of Purchase Orders, Shop Orders and Material Movement tasks, as well as special projects related to the Supply Chain.

Minimum requested hours per week: approximately 20 (somewhat flexible)
