Business Development Manager
Hotstart is seeking a high-energy, self-motivated Outside Sales professional who excels at building new businesses and turning challenges into opportunities. Hotstart designs, manufacturers, and delivers thermal management solutions to customers in a variety of industrial equipment markets. We have an open Business Development Manager position in the Industrial and Heavy-Duty sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven sales professional to expand Hotstart's presence across the heavy industry sector, including power generation, truck, machinery, and marine markets. In addition, this position is expected to identify new business sectors where Hotstart can offer its core technologies, products, and service.
Primary responsibilities
- Drive new business and exceed sales targets through proactive prospecting, in-person customer meetings and scheduled appointments.
- Identify and evaluate new product development opportunities for introduction to existing and emerging customer markets.
- This role requires approximately 40–60% travel within the assigned market sector.
- Be the face of Hotstart at conferences and industry events, actively pursuing leads and opportunities.
- Hunt for new opportunities by networking, building strong relationships, and rapidly expanding the assigned customer and market base.
- Elevate the customer experience by understand needs and confidently presenting Hotstart solutions.
- Take ownership of projects tied to OEM spec system releases, ensuring execution and results.
- Stay ahead of the competition by tracking, analyzing, and responding to competitor activity.
- Partner with Sales Directors, Customer Account Managers, Product Management, and Senior Sales Support to influence pricing strategies and deliver competitive offers.
- Maintain visibility and accountability by coordinating activities through the Team Calendar.
- Partner with Marketing to maximize impact and ROI at key industry trade shows.
Additional Activities
- Collaborate with team members on continuous improvement and processes.
- Review and prioritize business opportunities weekly.
- Support Product Management on product lifecycle reviews and manage active part numbers.
- Stay informed on customer announcements, technical developments, and industry trends.
- Maintain awareness of and guide Hotstart’s new product development projects and their relevance to the Power Generation market.
- Utilize the business activity module (CRM) for tracking and reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales and account management was strong negotiation skills.
- Experience with thermal management product, systems, or related industries a plus.
- Existing network within Engine, Power Generation, Machinery, or Marine OEMs is highly desirable.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
- Excellent communicator and experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
- Highly detail oriented, self motivated, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS, Excel, Teams, and Power BI.
- Proficiency of INFOR, IFS and MRP systems preferable.
- 3+ years as an account manager or related sales experience.
