HOTSTART Receives ATEX Certification

Jan 31, 2012

Spokane, Wash. based Hotstart has received international ATEX certification and CE marking for its engine and compressor preheaters intended for use in hazardous locations.  Hotstart’s decision to attain the certification was driven by the organization’s current presence in Germany, opportunities available throughout Europe and beyond and the many requests for the certification received by customers over time.

Hotstart spent three years working toward the certification, investing internal engineering resources and working with European consultants to ensure products were being built to meet certification standards in the most effective way.  It was important for Hotstart’s products to have the CE marking so that they can be used more widely in Europe and around the world. With this certification, Hotstart’s customers can integrate Hotstart components seamlessly making the process easier for engineers.  These engineers have access to a range of approved solutions that they know they can use to create an end product package that meets the required standards.

“We’re excited to have achieved the ATEX certification and look forward to the benefits this will bring to our customers, said Trond Liaboe, Director of Sales and Marketing.  “With our office in Germany and the known needs of our customers, we felt the timing was right to take this step.  This certification will make life easier for specifying design engineers and will provide more opportunities for our customers working within European and global markets and ensure their products are compliant.  With the growth of the global oil and gas market, this certification will give us and our customers more flexibility for use of our products in the marketplace.”

The ATEX certification process is detailed and involves in-depth examination, review and testing of products to ensure they meet design and safety standards and perform in the proper capacity.

Hotstart sees opportunities for future market growth globally in the oil and gas market as exploration and products are moving into new areas of the world.  Hotstart has grown in recent years due to their flexible engineering and the commitment to meeting unique customer needs.  A continued focus on building certified solutions can help customers expand their reach in the global markets.  In addition, the certification will give more customers the opportunity to use Hotstart products to align with standards.
