HOTflow™ CTM Heaters Receive UL/C-US Approval

Sep 19, 2013

Spokane, Wash. –  HOTSTART recently obtained UL/C-US approval on its HOTflow™ line of CTM forced circulation engine heaters. Effective immediately, CTM models specified with a 3m cord and NEMA plug will carry the UL mark. CTM models that are UL listed meet all the requirements for application on UL2200 listed generator sets.

The approved engine heaters range from 1kw – 2.5kw in both 120 and 240V.  “This approval process was necessary to meet the demands of our OEM customers,” noted HOTSTART Product Design Engineer, James Hunt. “GenSet OEMs will only specify UL listed components. Now that the CTM meets the requirements for UL2200 listed gensets, our OEMs have an energy efficient engine heating option.”

The HOTflow™ engine heater features an integrated pump that circulates warm coolant throughout the entire engine at uniform temperatures. Constant circulation of the coolant eliminates hotspots that can deteriorate heater hoses, harm engine seals and diminish coolant life.  HOTflow™ heaters rely on fewer heating cycles – saving up to 2000 kilowatt-hours per year in energy consumption while extending heater element life and reducing maintenance work. Equipping engines with HOTflow™ heaters ensures that gensets are warmed-up and ready-to-go during power failures. Reliable engine heating is critical in health care and commercial facilities, data centers and the telecommunication industry.
