Manufacturing Engineer

HOTSTART, Inc. has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer in our Spokane production facility. This position works to insure that assigned production areas and departments are properly equipped with tools and capital equipment as well as being properly trained to build and inspect product. This position is responsible for the generation of production documentation and information to support the production process such as PFMEA’s, process flow diagrams, routings, and work instructions. Manufacturing Engineers participate in the design process via DFM activity to produce profitable value streams. Additional work is performed with the Continuous Improvement, IT, and Production teams on projects to increase efficiency and enhance material flow.


  • Rapid response to production floor for product and process issues
  • Maximize work flow, efficiency, and product quality within the production process
  • Insures that labor time and capacity is properly accounted for in the production process
  • Develops required process documentation such as Work Instructions, PFMEA’s, and PFC’s
  • Designs and directs the development of production tooling, fixtures, gages and machines
  • Implements test strategies to verify product quality within the production process
  • Supports the product design process via design reviews and DFM activity
  • Capital and non-capital equipment requirements for the production system
  • Participation and Leadership in Kaizen, First build, and Continuous Improvement events


  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing role preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of general engineering practices including understanding design specifications, reading drawings, schematics, and BOM's, equipment and component testing methods
  • Ability to work productively while independently, within a team setting, and occasionally leading team events


  • Bachelors’ degree in related engineering field. Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering fields preferred
  • Strong PC skills including CAD and 3D modeling, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required, experience with MRP or other business database management systems preferred
